Hi Gabe
I sent you an email regarding your new HotSpot. As I mentioned I will do my best to be there. I am hoping to bring Jerome as well if it's OK?
I was hoping for some discussion around how we can either learn how you set up the hot spots and talk about what we can do around TCH and community computer sites.
See you today if I'm reading your email correctly.
Call me if you can... 647-231-8081
Daryl

From: gabe@pwd.ca
Date: Tue, 10 Nov 2009 16:43:29 -0500
To: wirelesstoronto-discuss@wirelesstoronto.ca
Subject: Re: [wirelesstoronto-discuss] Let's meet -- time to work on the public site and portal pages

Hi Daryl --
Yup, I was at the Government Management Committee meeting yesterday -- fun times! <smile>

The model we use for Wireless Toronto is based on each venue paying a $50 annual network membership fee -- that's the only regular revenue source that the group has, and we need it to make sure that we can cover our costs. But that model was designed assuming that our venues are places that have some budget available to cover that cost. When individuals or community groups want to host a Wireless Toronto hotspot, our model starts getting awkward.

That said, it'd be great to work with you, so let's try to find a way to do it.

Gabe

On Tue, Nov 10, 2009 at 9:14 AM, Daryl Hobbs <daryl_hobbs@hotmail.com> wrote:
Hi Michael
I have been subscribing to your newsletter for about 2 years and I have not attended any of your meeting because the community computer site I manage was not ready to have public sites or portals. Although we have a total of 4 routers operating, bell, linksys, d-link and belkin n1 I understand in order to install your software we must have a certain kind of router?
The reason I am contacting you is I believe we are on the verge of expanding our concept to other communities in Toronto Community Housing and this may be an excellent way for our future sites to access the internet etc...
I believe Gabe was at the meeting and he may be able to expalin what we are trying to accomplish.
Thanks and have a great day,
Daryl

> From: michael@monkeycycle.org
