We are having a Wireless Toronto volunteer meeting/infosession on Thursday April 5th at 6:30 PM in the Centre for Social Innovation - 4th Floor - 215 Spadina (between Queen and Dundas). We have new venues to install; new venues to pitch; and neat stuff to do. Get involved and come out. Drinks afterwards are pretty much a certainty. This meeting is open to all WT volunteers, new and old! We'll talk about what WT does, and ways you can get involved. We've got a lot of stuff on the go this spring! Message-ID: <95b1c3780704171023i7976a436i63f01c8b2ddc82ec@mail.gmail.com> Wireless Toronto news: 1) Wireless Wednesday on April 25th Join us at 7PM on Wednesday at Lot16 Bar (1136 Queen St. W., west of Dovercourt) for our monthly evening to celebrate our successes and drown our sorrows. It's casual, and some of the conversation will _not_ be about wifi. RSVP on upcoming: http://upcoming.org/event/174651/ 2) May hacknight on May 1st Our next monthly hacknight is on May 1st. We're going to be working on the email-to-portal-page application which we came up with at the last hacknight. For info on the project, visit http://wiki.wirelesstoronto.ca/hacknight_projects Hacknights are held in the studio at Inter/Access, 9 Ossington Ave., at Queen, and begin at 6:30pm. Note: if you're new to Wireless Toronto, hacknights might not be the best introduction. Our focus is on the project, and on building more than chatting. But if you're good with a soldering iron and/or writing php and want to get your hands "dirty", do drop in. RSVP at upcoming: http://upcoming.org/event/175666/ 3) Toronto The Good, May 15th Save the date! A full announcement will be coming soon, but for now, mark off the evening of May 15th to join us at Toronto The Good! Wireless Toronto will be participating in this year's event, along with ERA Architects, the Toronto Society of Architects, Spacing Magazine and [murmur]. For information about (and photos from) past Toronto The Good parties, visit: http://torontothegood.org/ 4) A milestone and a new hotspot We crossed the 6000 user mark this month! And as the weather gets nicer, we'll see more and more new signups. On the subject of nice weather: our newest hotspot is on the rooftop garden at 401 Richmond, a little oasis near Richmond and Spadina. It's a great place to spend a sunny afternoon. See the map of all our hotspots here: http://auth.wirelesstoronto.ca/hotspots_map.php 5) Next volunteer meeting on June 12th If you'd like to get involved with Wireless Toronto, you have two options: sign up for our "discuss" list at http://wirelesstoronto.ca/lists/listinfo/wirelesstoronto-discuss or come to one of our volunteer meetings. The next one will be on Tuesday, June 12th at 6:30PM at the Centre for Social Innovation, 215 Spadina Ave. RSVP at upcoming: http://upcoming.org/event/174632/
