Dear Torontonians,

The Festival of Architecture and Design is here again, and the folks
at ERA Architects, Spacing Magazine and [murmur] are throwing another
Toronto the Good party to celebrate me, your faithful city. This year
the Toronto Society of Architects are also co-hosting, and they will
be announcing the winner of their "Design Matters" competition, which
will be on display during the party. They also want to introduce all
of you to Wireless Toronto, an all-volunteer community group
celebrating their 2nd anniversary providing free community wireless
hotspots in caf?s, bars, and outdoor places like Dufferin Grove Park
and Dundas Square. Come by anytime for some food, drink, interactive
and wireless games, and a room full of nice people who care about me.

1) Wireless Wednesday on May 23rd

Join us at 7PM on Wednesday at Lot16 Bar (1136 Queen St. W., west of
Dovercourt) for our monthly evening to celebrate our successes and drown our
sorrows.  It's casual, and some of the conversation will _not_ be about
wifi.

2) June hacknight on June 5th

Our next monthly hacknight is on June 5th -- we'll be working on data
visualization.

Build some interesting visualisations of how/where/when people are using the
Wireless Toronto network (in suitable anonymised and aggregated ways to
protect individual privacy).

We know very little about how the WT network actually gets used but we do
have a database full of data that could tells us a lot.  We'll be hacking
interesting visualisations of data, getting that data from the Postgres DB
and likely some PHP to glue it all together.  If any of that sounds
interesting, please join us!

Hacknights are held in the studio at Inter/Access, 9 Ossington Ave., at
Queen, and begin at 6:30pm.

Note: if you're new to Wireless Toronto, hacknights might not be the best
introduction.  Our focus is on the project, and on building more than
chatting.  But if you're good with a soldering iron and/or writing php and
want to get your hands "dirty", do drop in.
